Hi there! It’s me, the Translating Traveler! I’ve started this blog to share my two biggest passions with the world: translating and traveling. Whether you’re a budding translator or an experienced professional that wants to break free, whether you’re a novice traveler or a true nomad, I hope you can get inspired by my adventures, learn from my mistakes, benefit from my experience or simply enjoy the brighter side of life together with me.
I’ve been bitten by the travel bug in 2006 and have been suffering from a severe case of wanderlust ever since. I’ve already lived in the US, the UK and Spain, I’ve traveled through Europe by train and discovered New Zealand by bus, I’ve ridden camels in the Sahara and swam with sharks in Mexico, I was completely overwhelmed in the chaotic streets of Cairo and never felt more peaceful than in the mystic Highlands of Scottland. But no matter how hard I try (and trust me, I’m giving it all I got!), my bucket list tends to increase instead of decrease. New adventures await and I’m ready to share them with the world.
Because (almost) nothing in this world is for free, though, I had to find a way to finance my travels. I knew very early on that the typical nine-to-five job somewhere in an office cubicle with stale air and bright fluorescent light could and would not be my future. I wanted to be free and independent, create my future on my terms and live without any regrets. When I discovered my passion for languages, working as a translator seemed to be the answer I was looking for. I went on to study translation and, finally, my passion became my profession and my dream became reality.
